What's New in Generac Industrial Connectivity
Generac Link Manager enables connectivity to manage backup power assets utilized by industrial fleets at diverse locations throughout North America. Designed to empower customers with real-time insights, remote monitoring, and control of energy management, the platform delivers an uninterrupted experience that brings next-level energy resiliency. Generac Link Manager supports a spectrum of enterprise use cases.
Generac Link Manager Banner Goes Live Thurs., Dec. 19, 2024
Customers will be welcomed with a fresh Generac Link Manager banner when logging into the platform after Thursday at 0700 EST, when system maintenance is scheduled. The new logo for Generac Link Manager will appear in the upper left of the browser window, adjacent to your company branding (not shown).
If utilizing the platform around this time, you might experience inactivity or reduced responsiveness lasting approximately five minutes while the install is deployed to your organization’s dedicated instance. We expect performance to quickly return to normal once system maintenance and the install are complete.
We’ve resolved an issue with the Journal history timestamp. The minor correction has been rolled into this version.
Be sure to check the knowledge base and this page for the latest information to help you in your connectivity journey. Lots of new features and optimizations are in the works for 2025.
Generac Link Retrofit Gateway and Harness Kit: Coming Soon!
We are rolling out upgraded hardware—a new advanced gateway for after-market customers as well as a new harness kit. These components seamlessly enable the customer’s connected energy journey in Generac Link Manager. Support continues for our growing number of installations leveraging the legacy hardware.
Advanced Gateway: G0097460
Replaces BP-ADVGW-V1
The new advanced gateway supports:
Modbus via RS232 ,RS485, and TCP
CAN bus
(1) 4-20mA analog input
(4) Digital inputs
(4) Digital outputs
Additional capacity to support ride through on voltage drop
Optional din rail or magnet surface mounting
3 antennae for cellular (primary/secondary) and GPS
Universal Harness: A0006648426
Replaces BP-ADVGWH-V1
The new universal harness comes with pre-wired connections for all gateway inputs and outputs as well as Modbus communications to facilitate easy connections between the gateway and the onsite device.
Be sure to refer to the FAQs page for additional detail on parts for existing hardware.
Power Zone® Pro Sync 485 Firmware: Upgrade Needed
For Modbus RS485 to work correctly between Power Zone Pro Sync and the Generac Link gateway, firmware on Power Zone Pro Sync must be updated to 1.23.2. Otherwise –99 values may appear in place of valid telemetry in the Generac Link Manager interface.
Light Maintenance Scheduled for Dec. 5th, 2024
We’ll be doing routine maintenance on Thursday at 0800 EST. If you are utilizing the platform at that time, you may experience brief times of reduced responsiveness. We expect that performance will return to normal after about a half hour.
We will be rolling out a patch to a minor issue so that Group Schedules now properly populate the schedule history. We did have a report that some of those records were not rendering on the page.
Be sure to check this page for posts on upcoming feature enhancements and for system news. We’ll keep you informed and ahead of the curve on any impacts to fleet operations.
Release Notes Nov. 21, 2024
We’ve enhanced the pagination selection drop down by swapping out the custom option with a simpler maximum entry selection of 300. You might notice this when you have a large number of reports or extended alarm histories.
We are preparing the platform for multi-language use to support a growing IoT international customer base. The first localization effort will be in French and Spanish will follow soon thereafter. Calendar modals, menus, and messaging will conform to language settings in the application. We recommend watching this page for additional details as we wrap up the year.
This week we removed an issue resulting in a missing Alarm flag adjacent to the Alarm tab unless navigating there.
We also rolled out a fix to address the Group Schedules feature flag, which could not be turned off if any User had permissions for the feature.
We’ve implemented performance optimizations on the platform. These upgrades will be seamless to the user.
Release Notes Nov. 07, 2024
We corrected a minor defect observed when a user needed to change organizations. An error could occur when sites removed from an organization were still selectable in the Site selection dropdown. Seen by a small number of users, this issue has been addressed.
Enhancements Live with Light Maintenance Completed Oct. 24, 2024
This version of Generac Link Manager provides optimizations on the platform’s List View page, which offers easy navigation and sort features. While glancing at a fleet, you’ll always have multiple paths to the Map View as well as to Site Details. Active alarms are a click away via the adjacent tab.
Non-numerical values are being handled so that they don’t produce invalid data messaging (NaN) in Live equipment views. Faster processing is also expected when an unexpected value appears in the data feed. The resolved issue occurred in only a few unique cases.
Also in this release, we’ve addressed an error that only new users reported at login. This minor, corrected issue did not affect any existing customers.
Be sure to check the knowledge base and help portal as we’ll also be posting release details on upcoming features and optimizations in the coming weeks.
Oct. 10, 2024: Generator Run Report Enhancement
Many of you are already comfortable leveraging the Generator Run Report to capture run-time hours and fuel levels across a fleet of power assets. In this week’s enhancements of Generac Link Manager, we are adding amperage values for three phase so that our clients can track whether connected generators are indeed providing a load to conduits supplying power at a site. In system tests, no amperage should be detected, while for outages or grid services events, amperage will populate these fields in reports.
This enhancement plus several other platform optimizations will be available starting Thursday morning at 0800 EDT. No platform interruptions are anticipated.
Amperage line items are just one method for administrators to track whether run-time hours count toward any caps required by state agencies to limit emissions.
In order to run the Generator Run Report, permissions must be enabled in User Permissions. Please reach out to Support and check the knowledge base for additional articles on Reports and other feature sets.
Be sure to check this page for additional posts on enhancements scheduled in the coming weeks.
Sept. 27, 2024: Subscription Management Just Released
The subscription management feature is now live for IDCs. Be sure to jump to the Subscription Management topic for details. The new features streamline the easy steps in the monitoring application and enable you to stay on top of upcoming expirations of trial licenses.
The landing page now features quick access to the fresh-looking List View for sites, utilizing an easy-to-find modal on the Map View or landing page, with filters by name, gateway serial number, or active alarm status. This replaces the Site List menu formerly in the banner. Be sure to see the full details in the Fleet Management topic.
The user can easily filter the list view by entering the name or gateway ID. Partial entries are accepted.
Stay in touch by checking this page for future enhancements in the coming weeks.
Sept. 10, 2024: Shipment Information
We have learned that some factory-attached connectivity gateways shipped with the cellular antenna disconnected from the gateway. These cables are normally pre-connected from the factory. The issue has been corrected for new shipments.
For existing inventory, please confirm that the pigtails from the gateway enclosure are connected to the antenna cables as illustrated in the following diagram (Red > Red/Black and Blue > Blue) prior to deployment. This will ensure the gateway has adequate cellular signal strength to communicate with the connectivity platform.
Please refer to our knowledge base for further information on wiring and connections.
Factory-Attached Connectivity Gateway Live this June!
The Advanced Gateway, designed to streamline asset connectivity in enterprise power applications, is installed at the factory by default for large industrial generators, typically exceeding 200 kW. Please refer to this page for the models affected. The Advanced Gateway uses Modbus to connect to most generator controllers. Schematics and other detail are provided in our Advanced Topics section.
