What's New in Generac Industrial Connectivity
Generac Link Manager enables connectivity to manage backup power assets utilized by industrial fleets at diverse locations throughout North America. The platform supports a spectrum of enterprise use cases.
We’ll be doing light maintenance on Thursday at 0800 EST. If you are utilizing the platform Thursday morning, you may notice brief times of reduced responsiveness. We expect that performance will return to normal after about a half hour.
Release Notes Nov. 21, 2024
We’ve enhanced the pagination selection drop down by swapping out the custom option with a simpler maximum entry selection of 300. You might notice this when you have a large number of reports or extended alarm histories.
We are preparing the platform for multi-language use to support a growing IoT international customer base. The first localization effort will be in French and Spanish will follow soon thereafter. Calendar modals, menus, and messaging will conform to language settings in the application. We recommend watching this page for additional details as we wrap up the year.
This week we removed an issue resulting in a missing Alarm flag adjacent to the Alarm tab unless navigating there.
We also rolled out a fix to address the Group Schedules feature flag, which could not be turned off if any User had permissions for the feature.
We’ve implemented performance optimizations on the platform. These upgrades will be seamless to the user.
Release Notes Nov. 07, 2024
We corrected a minor defect observed when a user needed to change organizations. An error could occur when sites removed from an organization were still selectable in the Site selection dropdown. Seen by a small number of users, this issue has been addressed.
Enhancements Live with Light Maintenance Completed Oct. 24, 2024
This version of Generac Link Manager provides optimizations on the platform’s List View page, which offers easy navigation and sort features. While glancing at a fleet, you’ll always have multiple paths to the Map View as well as to Site Details. Active alarms are a click away via the adjacent tab.
Non-numerical values are being handled so that they don’t produce invalid data messaging (NaN) in Live equipment views. Faster processing is also expected when an unexpected value appears in the data feed. The resolved issue occurred in only a few unique cases.
Also in this release, we’ve addressed an error that only new users reported at login. This minor, corrected issue did not affect any existing customers.
Be sure to check the knowledge base and help portal as we’ll also be posting release details on upcoming features and optimizations in the coming weeks.
Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024: Generator Run Report Enhancement
Many of you are already comfortable leveraging the Generator Run Report to capture run-time hours and fuel levels across a fleet of power assets. In this week’s enhancements of Generac Link Manager, we are adding amperage values for three phase so that our clients can track whether connected generators are indeed providing a load to conduits supplying power at a site. In system tests, no amperage should be detected, while for outages or grid services events, amperage will populate these fields in reports.
This enhancement plus several other platform optimizations will be available starting Thursday morning at 0800 EDT. No platform interruptions are anticipated.
Amperage line items are just one method for administrators to track whether run-time hours count toward any caps required by state agencies to limit emissions.
In order to run the Generator Run Report, permissions must be enabled in User Permissions. Please reach out to Support and check the knowledge base for additional articles on Reports and other feature sets.
Be sure to check this page for additional posts on enhancements scheduled in the coming weeks.
Friday, Sept. 27, 2024: Subscription Management Just Released!
The subscription management feature is now live for IDCs. Be sure to jump to the Subscription Management topic for details. The new features streamline the easy steps in the monitoring application and enable you to stay on top of upcoming expirations of trial licenses.
The MiraLink landing page now features quick access to the fresh-looking List View for sites, utilizing an easy-to-find modal on the Map View or landing page, with filters by name, gateway serial number, or active alarm status. This replaces the Site List menu formerly in the MiraLink banner. Be sure to see the full details in the Fleet Management topic.
The user can easily filter the list view by entering the name or gateway ID. Partial entries are accepted.
Stay in touch by checking this page for future enhancements in the coming weeks.
Advanced Gateway News
Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024: MiraLink Upgrade Scheduled
We are rolling out an enhanced version of MiraLink at 0800 EDT on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024. During this upgrade, we are anticipating minimal to no impact on operations so no action is required by any of our users.
Be sure to check the knowledge base and help portal via the Support link as we’ll also be posting further release details and feature stories there soon.
Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024: Shipment Information
We have learned that some factory-attached connectivity gateways shipped with the cellular antenna disconnected from the gateway. These cables are normally pre-connected from the factory. The issue has been corrected for new shipments.
For existing inventory, please confirm that the pigtails from the gateway enclosure are connected to the antenna cables as illustrated in the following diagram (Red > Red/Black and Blue > Blue) prior to MiraLink deployment. This will ensure the gateway has adequate cellular signal strength to communicate with MiraLink’s business connectivity platform.
Please refer to our knowledge base for further information on wiring and connections.
Friday, Aug. 23, 2024: Announcement on Gateway Cellular Options
We want to remind everyone that the MiraLink Gateway comes equipped with a Verizon SIM card, ensuring seamless wireless connectivity in all Verizon coverage areas. The Verizon SIM card is configured to roam on the major Canadian cellular providers as well.
For those deploying the Gateway in locations outside of Verizon’s native or roaming network, we offer an alternative SIM card that automatically roams and connects to a local network, providing reliable connectivity wherever you are.
If you need an alternative SIM card for a non-Verizon coverage area, please contact our support team at support@energyservices.generac.com. They will be happy to assist you in obtaining the appropriate SIM card for your location.
Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024: Late this week once logged in you’ll notice a fresh look and feel that will be bundled with seamless enhancements on our connectivity platform. Formerly ViewIT, the MiraLink banner will appear across the top of your window. Be assured that the intuitive, light feel of this connectivity tool—with its easy monitoring and reporting workflows—will be unaffected.
With this release, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15 at 0800 EDT, we’ve also added metadata options to your Generator Run Report exports. With a quick setup, the metadata will appear in the report side-by-side with other familiar fields. In the following report, you’ll see that Run Hours and Fuel Level were active tags.
As before, the Generator Run Report is available to users with the feature toggled on, as provided in the Generator Run Report topic.
In another enhancement, Site associations for a new user will automatically be granted so that the site Pin populates the Map View for their respective instance, without adjustments to user permissions.
You may also notice a status bar indicator at the bottom of the screen so that the user is kept informed on page loading times for partners managing large numbers of sites or assets across a service area.
System Maintenance: Aug. 1 , 2024
The MiraLink platform is scheduled for light and routine maintenance Thursday morning at 0800 EDT. While brief slowness is possible around the start of business hours, we are not anticipating any significant impact on operations and no action is required by any of our users.
Some customers may notice that we have addressed a caching issue when Site Permissions are added or removed for a given user. Clearing the cache is no longer needed when managing these permissions.
Spaces potentially entered between mobile numbers while configuring text notifications are now ignored by the platform. This will ensure that alerts are properly sent when expected. Please refer to the User Notification Preferences topic for additional information.
Be sure to refer to this page to stay current on feature enhancements scheduled for the coming weeks and months!
System Maintenance: July 18, 2024
The MiraLink platform is scheduled for light and routine maintenance Thursday morning. We are not expecting any impact on your operations and no action is required by our users.
We have addressed an issue, limited to some environments in MiraLink, that impacted updates to Site Pins from the Map View, involving a minor glitch with caching. No action is required to see the performance improvement. We are also proceeding with customary backend optimizations.
If you do notice any slowness, please allow just a few minutes then try to perform the task on the platform again.
System Maintenance: July 3, 2024
Wednesday morning, July 3rd, 2024, the MiraLink platform will be undergoing maintenance for up to two hours, starting 0800 EDT, as back-end optimizations are implemented.
We’ve also resolved an issue that resulted in asset count inconsistencies. This may have occurred when viewing generator details then navigating to the Site Summary with the URL in Google Chrome. With this fix, a browser refresh should no longer be required when there are multiple assets.
