What's New in Generac Industrial Connectivity

Firmware Update Required for Powerzone ProSync Controller

What’s Changing

To ensure optimal performance and prevent potential issues, we recommend updating the firmware on your Powerzone ProSync (PZPS) controller to version 1.23.2 or later.

Why Is This Important?

Firmware versions below 1.23.2 may lead to:

  • Loss of communication with the Generac Link gateway

  • Random Low Coolant Level alarms

Updating to the latest firmware helps maintain system stability and performance.

How to Update

Follow the firmware update procedure outlined by Generac Power Systems.

Generac Link Manager Update

Release Date: Thursday, February 28, 2025

We will deploy the latest version of Generac Link (2025.2.27) to Production clients on Thursday, February 28, 2025, starting at 8:00 AM Eastern. This update includes performance enhancements, UI updates, and bug fixes to improve the overall experience.

Release Features

  • Cache Performance Improvements – Users will experience significantly faster performance when retrieving single-equipment Sites.

  • Site and Equipment Configuration Admin: The Site and Equipment Configuration has been fully converted to React, a JavaScript library for creating website screens. Users may notice a slight difference in appearance, but the performance of these pages remains unchanged.

Release Fixes

  • Alarm History Timezone Correction – Alarm history entries will now correctly display in site time rather than browser time.

  • Map Pin Display Fix – Resolved an issue where clustered pins on the main map appeared elongated.

  • Site Permission Handling – We fixed an issue where a User’s Site Permissions could be reset if the record was saved before Sites were retrieved from the cache.

Customer Impact

  • Minimal downtime – The Generac Link UI may be non-responsive for approximately 15 minutes during deployment.

  • Full regression testing will be conducted across all Production client environments to ensure system stability.

Upcoming IoT Suite Release

We are also planning a separate release for the Generac Engineering IoT Suite apps on Thursday, March 6, 2025. This release will introduce support for CANbus deployments. Since these are internal applications, this update will not impact customers.

Attention Generac Industrial Dealers: Subscription Management

2024 was an exciting year for the Generac Energy Services team with the introduction of the after-market and factory-attached advanced gateway.  We appreciate your support and feedback, which has brought us to the next stage of introducing subscription management.  Last year, we moved the subscription purchasing out of GenService and into the Generac Link Manager platform under the Subscription Administration page. Your site administrator can provide your user login access if needed.

Starting on March 1st, 2025, new invoices will be sent out to sites with active subscriptions. Sites that were deployed with a pre-purchased subscription from GenService will be reflected in the system and will be invoiced when the pre-purchased subscription expires.  If the pre-purchased subscription has already expired, an invoice will be generated on March 1st.

In preparation for the invoice, we ask for your help confirming that subscription plans and statuses in your portal are accurate and that we have the proper billing contact on file.  For more information on subscription management, refer to the Subscription Management help article in the support knowledge base accessible via the Generac Link Manager application menu.

For subscription accuracy, please do the following:

  1. Log in to your Generac Link Manager portal and review your subscriptions. Subscriptions with a March 1st end date will be billed on March 1st.

  2. Confirm if any subscriptions set to bill on March 1st need to be canceled.

  3. Ensure that subscriptions are assigned to the correct plan (IDC or Customer). If the customer add-on is not selected before the expiration date, customers may lose access to the site

We are emailing each IDC to confirm that we have the correct billing contact on file. If you need assistance, contact Kristine Schindler in Customer Success at kristine.schindler@generac.com.

Generac Link Manager Update

Release Date: Thursday, February 13, 2025

On Thursday, February 13, we plan to release the latest version of Generac Link Manager to Production. This release aims to enhance user experience and application performance through key updates and improvements.

New Features

  • Subscription Management: Subscriptions marked for cancellation at the end of a free trial period will now be updated to ‘non-renewing’. This option is available only to users with permission from 'Subscription Administration' on the main menu.

  • Alarms: The Alarm Tab has been fully converted to React, a JavaScript library for creating screens for websites. Users may notice a slight difference in appearance. However, the performance of these pages remains unchanged.

  • Add User: Only Users with 'User Administration' permissions will see this option on the main menu.

  • User Permissions: Only Users with 'User Administration' permissions will see this option on the main menu. In addition, search by entering part of a name was added to the User Field and the site access fields, Available Sites and Sites Selected.

User Permissions 02132025.png

Users may experience a few minutes of inactivity on the Generac Link app during the install window, which is scheduled from 8 am to 11 am Eastern time. To minimize disruption, the update will be delayed for any customer who has a dispatch scheduled to run during the install window.

Generac Link Manager Banner Goes Live Thurs., Dec. 19, 2024

When logging into the platform after Thursday at 0700 EST, when system maintenance is scheduled, customers will be welcomed with a fresh Generac Link Manager banner. The new logo for Generac Link Manager will appear in the upper left of the browser window, adjacent to your company branding (not shown).

If utilizing the platform around this time, you might experience inactivity or reduced responsiveness lasting approximately five minutes while the installation is deployed to your organization’s dedicated instance. We expect performance to quickly return to normal once system maintenance and installation are complete.

We’ve resolved an issue with the Journal history timestamp. The minor correction has been rolled into this version.

Be sure to check the knowledge base and this page for the latest information to help you in your connectivity journey. Lots of new features and optimizations are in the works for 2025.

Sept. 10, 2024: Shipment Information

We have learned that some factory-attached connectivity gateways shipped with the cellular antenna disconnected from the gateway. These cables are normally pre-connected from the factory. The issue has been corrected for new shipments.

For existing inventory, please confirm that the pigtails from the gateway enclosure are connected to the antenna cables as illustrated in the following diagram (Red > Red/Black and Blue > Blue) prior to deployment. This will ensure the gateway has adequate cellular signal strength to communicate with the connectivity platform.
